IPL 2026: KSCA denies security breach in CCTV sabotage during RCB vs GT match at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium

The Karnataka State Cricket Association has issued a detailed clarification following reports surrounding alleged CCTV issues at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru during the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 match between Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Gujarat Titans (GT) on Monday, April 27.

Addressing the speculation, the association stated that the matter was purely an internal dispute involving private vendors and had no connection with the stadium’s official security system. According to the KSCA, the CCTV cameras in question were installed by private vendors for their internal operational use and are not part of the surveillance infrastructure used by the police and security personnel at the venue.

The statement further emphasised that the police department operates an entirely separate and independent security network at the venue, which remains fully functional and unaffected. It was also clarified that the issue arose due to a payment-related disagreement between a vendor and its employees, with all associated server rooms and technical systems being managed privately.

“The matter was identified and resolved well in advance, prior to the opening of stadium gates and commencement of public entry. At no point did this incident result in any security lapse, operational disruption, or life-threatening situation. There was no element of sabotage affecting the safety or security of spectators, players or officials,” the KSCA statement read.

Importantly, the KSCA confirmed that the situation was resolved before the stadium was opened to the public. The association reiterated that there was no security lapse, no disruption to match-day operations, and no threat to the safety of players, officials, or spectators.Dismissing concerns, the KSCA maintained that the venue’s security framework continues to remain robust and uncompromised.

RCB’s strong hold at Chinnaswamy in 2026

Royal Challengers Bengaluru have enjoyed an impressive run at home in IPL 2026, turning the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium into a high-scoring fortress. Out of five matches played so far, RCB have won four and lost just one, showcasing both batting firepower and chase mastery.

Their campaign at home began with a thrilling six-wicket chase against Sunrisers Hyderabad, where they hunted down 202 in just 15.4 overs. They followed it up with a dominant 43-run win over Chennai Super Kings. RCB continued their winning momentum with a comfortable five-wicket chase against Lucknow Super Giants, before suffering their only setback,  a narrow six-wicket defeat to Delhi Capitals.

However, they bounced back in style, chasing down 206 against GT with more than an over to spare.
