WWE NXT was live from the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida. The show focused on continuing new storylines and building the current direction of the brand. The main advertised match saw Izzi Dame challenge Lola Vice for the NXT Women’s Championship.
Other matches included Shiloh Hill facing Charlie Dempsey, while members of The Culling competed against OTM. Wren Sinclair also faced Kelani Jordan. The show also started a new WWE Speed tournament with Dorian Van Dux taking on Sean Legacy.
WWE NXT Highlights
Kelani Jordan vs Wren Sinclair
Kelani Jordan attacked Wren Sinclair before the match even started and stayed aggressive early. Wren fought back with takedowns and an armbar, forcing Kelani to escape to the floor several times.
After the break, Jordan focused on Wren’s leg with different submissions. Sinclair rallied with chops, a butterfly suplex, and near falls, but Kelani kept targeting the leg. Near the end, Jordan countered another big move and locked in a deathlock calf slicer. Wren had no choice but to tap out, giving Kelani the submission win.
DarkState Explained Why They Kicked Saquon Shugars
DarkState came out without Saquon Shugars, and his image had a red X over it on their screen. The group explained why they kicked him out.
Osiris Griffin said Shugars never truly fit in because the others were standout college athletes while he was an indie wrestler. Cutler James called him reckless and said he became a liability. Dion Lennox claimed Shugars tried turning the group against him out of jealousy. Dion also made it clear he sees himself as the leader of DarkState. The promo ended with the group warning the locker room that DarkState is still dangerous.
Dorian Van Dux vs. Sean Legacy (Speed Championship #1 Contender’s Tournament First Round Match)
Dorian Van Dux and Sean Legacy had a fast-paced match in the WWE Speed tournament. Legacy started strong with quick offense and a huge dive, but Van Dux answered by throwing him into the ring post and using his power advantage.
Both men traded near falls late in the match as the clock ran down. Legacy hit a Frankensteiner from the top rope, while Van Dux nearly stole it with a springboard elbow drop. In the final seconds, Sean landed a superplex, but time expired before either man could get the win.
The match ended in a draw, eliminating both wrestlers from the tournament.
Jaida Parker vs Layla Diggs
Jaida Parker and Layla Diggs had a physical back-and-forth match. Parker controlled early with power moves and grounded punches, but Diggs answered with kicks, strikes, and submission attempts.
Both women traded momentum throughout the match. Diggs nearly stole it with a big back elbow after escaping a suplex attempt, but she missed a moonsault soon after. Parker took advantage, hit Hipnotic, and then finished the match with Deja Vu for the pinfall victory.
Tony D’Angelo, Naraku and Kam Hendrix Clashed
Tony D’Angelo came to the ring and said the new talent in NXT keeps targeting him, but next week he gets his chance to fight back against Kam Hendrix. He also called out Naraku, wanting him to admit he wants the NXT Championship.
Naraku claimed he only wanted to protect Tony and the title because their destiny is to eventually go to war. Kam Hendrix then interrupted and promised he would beat Tony for the championship next week. Tony fired back, saying Kam sees the title as a status symbol while he sacrificed years for it.
When Kam tried throwing a punch, Naraku stepped in. He then attacked Hendrix, and threw him out of the ring before bowing to Tony.
Nathan Frazer vs Romeo Moreno ( Speed Men’s Championship #1 Contender’s Tournament Finals)
Nathan Frazer and Romeo Moreno had a fast-paced WWE Speed tournament final with both men trading near falls from start to finish. Moreno started strong with a missile dropkick, while Frazer answered with quick counters and high-flying offense.
The final minute turned chaotic with dives, a superplex, and multiple reversals. Just when Frazer looked close to winning, Moreno countered into a small package for the surprise pin.
Romeo Moreno won the match and became the new No. 1 contender for the WWE Speed Men’s Championship. After the match, Frazer showed respect with a handshake and hug, but his mood changed when he noticed Birth Right watching from above.
Charlie Dempsey vs Shiloh Hill
Charlie Dempsey and Shiloh Hill had a physical match with both men trading submissions and heavy offense. Hill showed off his power early with slams and shoulder blocks, while Dempsey targeted the arm and used technical counters to stay in control.
After the break, the pace picked up with German suplexes, powerbombs, and big strikes from both wrestlers. Dempsey nearly stole it late, but Hill countered a butterfly suplex into a bridging northern lights suplex for the pinfall win.
After the match, Tristan Angels announced a “Mr. NXT” pageant in two weeks to embarrass Hill, but Hill laughed it off and accepted the challenge.
Izzi Dame vs Lola Vice (c) (NXT Women’s Championship)
Izzi Dame controlled much of the match early by targeting Lola Vice’s midsection and using her power advantage. Vice fought back with strikes, submissions, and quick counters, while chaos broke out at ringside when OTM and The Culling started brawling backstage.
Late in the match, Dame accidentally knocked out the referee during an exchange in the corner. Lola nearly won with an uraken, but there was no referee to count. Dame later tried cheating by using the title belt, but Vice still kicked out.
In the end, Lola avoided a big boot and connected with another uraken to retain the NXT Women’s Championship.
