Check Pakistan Home Season 2026 Schedule

The Pakistan cricket team is the only major team that has hosted an ODI tri-series in recent times. Pakistan hosted an ODI triangular series last year and are slated to host another by the end of the year with two strong teams involved.

A tri-series and quadrangular tournament in the 50-over format in international cricket used to be a regular staple in the yesteryears. However, over the past dozen years, they have been few and far between and rarely over the past half-dozen years.

Since the start of 2020, there has been only one tri-series in the ODI format: Pakistan hosted New Zealand and South Africa at the start of 2025, with the Kiwis winning the tournament by beating the hosts in the final by five wickets.

ODI tri-series returns to Pakistan for the second consecutive year

Now, the Men in Green are set to invite two other teams for an ODI tri-series in October this year as all of them chart out plans and players for the 2027 World Cup.

Pakistan’s opponents and fixtures for the upcoming home season were highlighted on Wednesday. Pakistan will host Sri Lanka for a Test and T20I series, and the two nations will be involved in an ODI tri-series with England.

Pakistan’s home season 2026 will kick off with a three-match T20I series against England on October 9 in Rawalpindi. It will be followed by a tri-nation ODI series.

This ODI series will include two round-robin cycles, with all three teams playing each other twice in the group stage before the top two teams progress to the final. As of now, Rawalpindi is scheduled to host the first round-robin cycle, and the rest of the series will be played in Lahore, including the final on October 31.

Sri Lanka will then take on Pakistan in a two-match Test series in November to be hosted in Rawalpindi and Lahore.

The Pakistan vs Sri Lanka Test series will be Pakistan’s second in the ongoing ICC WTC 2025-27 cycle, having hosted South Africa last year. That series ended in a 1-1 draw. Currently, the Asian side is playing a Test series in England that began on August 19.

England played in Pakistan last year during the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, where they lost all of their three group matches to Afghanistan, Australia, and South Africa.

England, meanwhile, have a busy travelling winter 2026-27 as they will also fly to Australia for 3 ODIs and 5 T20Is before flying to South Africa for three Test matches and as many ODIs.

They will return to Asia for a two-match Test series in Bangladesh and then travel to Australia again for the one-off Test match at the MCG, celebrating Test cricket’s 150th anniversary in March.
