Jasprit Bumrah. Rashid Khan. Mohammed Siraj. Josh Hazlewood. Bhuvneshwar Kumar. These are some of the best bowlers in T20 cricket. However, a common factor in all of them is that they were all left stunned, speechless, and likely in awe as the teen batting sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi took them down through his unbelievable talent and skillset at such a young age.
The latest addition to this list is the Australian ODI and Test captain Pat Cummins. In the RR vs SRH encounter of IPL 2026 on Saturday in Jaipur, Sooryavanshi outwitted Cummins’ bouncer trap and pulled one over the SRH captain, literally too, by muscling him over the boundary on the legside for a huge six.
That was a poor initiation for Cummins in IPL 2026: this was the SRH skipper’s first game of the season. It was also the first time these two faced off this year.
The pulled sixer off Cummins was a follow-up from Vaibhav to the hammering he gave Praful Hinge in the previous over.
Praful had dismissed Sooryavanshi for a duck in their clash earlier in the competition in Hyderabad, romping SRH to a shock victory. The left-hander had his revenge as he demolished Hinge in the first over of RR’s innings, walloping the pacer for four consecutive sixes to send RR rolling on.
While Yashasvi Jaiswal fell to Eshan Malinga, Sooryavanshi continued to sweat Cummins and SRH bowlers with his fireworks. He took 12 runs off Malinga in the 5th over before finishing the powerplay at 76/1 by tonking Sakib Hussain over the ropes.
Dhruv Jurel and Sooryavanshi plundered 16 runs off Shivang Kumar’s first over, and then the youngster smashed Praful and Sakib for more boundaries.
Shivang came for more and was blasted by the batting pair, with Sooryavanshi now in the 80s. Jurel was dismissed by Nitish Kumar Reddy at one end, but at the other end, Sooryavanshi went 6, 4, 6 to Sakib and raised his second IPL century.
As a 14-year-old, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi had hit a 35-ball century against Gujarat Titans in IPL 2025. As a 15-year-old, Sooryavanshi today notched up a 36-ball century against Sunrisers Hyderabad.
28 batsmen have registered multiple centuries in IPL history. However, none of them did it at an age lower than 18. Heck, Vaibhav is not even 16 yet!
His innings came to an end the very next ball after reaching his hundred as he missed an uncharacteristic reverse scoop off Sakib. Out lbw.
But he received a standing ovation – Sooryavanshi has received quite a few of them in his brief two-season IPL career – from the Jaipur crowd as he walked off after lighting up the pink city.
Fans on Twitter went gaga as the young southpaw went berserk against Cummins and co.
