The Supreme Court of India appointed the Lodha Committee in January 2015 to analyse the working of the Board of Cricket Control in India and recommend changes in its running. - Must not be declared insolvent or of unsound mind
- Should not be a minister, public servant, or office bearer of any other sports body
- Must not have served in the BCCI for more than nine cumulative years
And lo and behold, the legendary Indian cricketer and current BCCI President turns 70 today, July 19, 2025. And while the cricketing world is celebrating the milestone birthday of the hero of the 1983 World Cup, he will have to step down from arguably the most important position in world cricket.
But who will replace Roger Binny and take over his post? Rajeev Shukla, a man who has been active around Indian cricket for decades, is the frontrunner to be the interim president. The 65-year-old. However, as a current Rajya Sabha member for the Congress party, he cannot be the full-time BCCI President. That post will be filled after the BCCI’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) in September 2025.
