London Spirit and Oval Invincibles will have their very first meeting in The Hundred 2025 on 5 August at Lord’s. In previous encounters between the two teams, Oval Invincibles have dominated: The last five against Spirit and Oval Invincibles joined against Spirit in six out of eight, while Spirit could manage only one.
Oval Invincibles are the reigning champions, having successfully defended their title from the last season by defeating Southern Brave in the final wherein they put on 147/9, and the Brave could muster only 130/7 in response, thanks to Saqib Mahmood being named Player of the Match.
The London Spirit, in contrast, endured a bad season, managing to win merely one out of eight, but the team has since undergone some changes with the naming of Kane Williamson as captain and the bio-bubble allowance to have David Warner in the squad. The Englishmen Ollie Pope, Jamie Smith, Jamie Overton, and Liam Dawson are also part of the squad, having been contenders against India in the recent Test series.
An interesting bout is promised between the defending champs and the team searching for sweet revenge. With their strong record behind them, the Oval Invincibles shall try to carry on with their winning streak, whereas London Spirit will look to upset the favorites and start their campaign on a winning note.

Who Will Win the Match?
Oval Invincibles will probably triumph in the clash with London Spirit. In terms of record and present form, they enjoy a huge advantage. The Invincibles have won the last five encounters against the Spirit and are holding the cup at present. Whereas, the arrival of Wayne Parnell into Spirit along with captain Kane Williamson and David Warner might make a difference, but the Invincibles’ momentum will be extremely hard to surmount.
