Asia Cup 2025 venueThe uncertainties over the Asia Cup 2025 are clearing up following the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) meeting that was conducted on Thursday in Dhaka, with multiple boards attending the meeting virtually.

The fate of the Asia Cup 2025 had come under a cloud after the India-Pakistan border issues in May, which followed the Pahalgam terror attacks in April.

With the ongoing India-Bangladesh political quandary as well, the fate of the ACC meeting on Thursday was also undecided.

The BCCI attended the meeting virtually, with Rajeev Shukla as its representative. Nepal, too, participated in the meeting online. However, the PCB and ACC Chairman Mohsin Naqvi was present in Dhaka and was received at the airport by BCB chief executive Nizamuddin Chowdhury and board president Aminul Islam.

According to TOI’s Gaurav Gupta, the tournament has been given the green signal by the ACC, and it will be conducted in the UAE.

As per TOI, the Asia Cup will be played from September 8 to 28.

The BCCI holds the hosting rights for the Asia Cup 2025. However, since the Pakistan team will not travel to India for any international cricket tournament, the Asia Cup this year will reportedly be played in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, according to TOI.

How many teams will be part of Asia Cup 2025?

Eight teams will feature in this year’s Asia Cup: India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, UAE, Oman, and Hong Kong.

The Asia Cup 2025 will be played in T20 format, keeping in mind next year’s T20 World Cup in India and Sri Lanka.

The groupings and format for the tournament this year are not finalized yet, but expect India and Pakistan to be slated in the same group, as has been the case for each edition of the Asia Cup since 2018.

India are the defending Asia Cup champions, having won the tournament in 2023, when they beat Sri Lanka in the final.
