Watch Jadeja Lose His Wicket At The Start Of Day 2

Indian Cricket Team all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has lost his wicket to pacer Jofra Archer almost immediately after the start of Day 2 of the ongoing Test match between India and England.

Today is Day Two of the fourth England vs India Test of the ongoing five-match Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy. The match is being played at the Old Trafford Cricket Ground and saw the home side win the toss and decide to bowl first.

On the first day, the Men in Blue got off to an excellent start, as the opening pair of Yashasvi Jasiwal and KL Rahul made 94 runs together before Rahul got out just shy of a half-century at 36. Sai Sudharsan and Jaiswal then made some runs together before Yashasvi got out for 58 at the team score of 120/2.

Indian captain Shubman Gill, the hero of the second Test, seems to be failing with the bat for the second match in a row, as he was dismissed for 12 by English captain Ben Stokes. He misjudged an inswinging ball and left it, which hit him straight on the pads. At 140/3, India looked in trouble.

But then, the pair of Sudharsan and Rishabh Pant came to the rescue. While the young Indian batter took the patient approach, the wicketkeeper seemed in a hurry to score runs. He had scored 37 off 48 deliveries when a yorker by Chris Woakes hit him right on the foot, forcing him to be retired hurt. It has since emerged that Pant has suffered a foot fracture and is out for the rest of the series.

Sai Sudharsan’s wicket after scoring 61 runs left India at 235/4. But the pair of Rvindra Jadeja and Shardul Thakur kept their wickets till the end of the day, which was at the score of 264/4 in 83 overs.

Woakes bowled the first over of Day Two to Thakur, and it was a maiden. The 85th over, which was the second of the day, was bowled by Jofra Archer. It was a very happening over. On the first ball, Jadeja edged the ball, which did not carry to the slips. Then, Shardul was beaten comprehensively on the third ball but survived.

The fifth ball of the over, bowled to ‘Jaddu’, took an edge off the left-handed batter’s bat and carried to Harry Brook in the slips as the Indian Cricket Team lost their fifth wicket at 266.

The pair of Shardul Thakur and Washington Sundar might be India’s last recognised batting pair. While bowling all-rounder Anshul Kambhoj will come in to bat after them, he is not particularly known for his batting in the longer formats. And making a debut on a challenging English wicket will be a massive task for any batter, let alone for a No. 9.
