[Watch] Harmanpreet Kaur Roasts Pakistani Trolls After Winning World Cup

India women’s cricket team captain and the newly minted World Cup-winning skipper, Harmanpreet Kaur, upped her roasting game, as many fans believe, with Kaur sipping something from a coffee mug and flexing India’s recently won Women’s World Cup trophy.

On Sunday, Kaur marched India to their maiden ICC Womens World Cup title, taking India’s tally of ODI World Cup trophies to three, adding onto the men’s World Cup trophies from 1983 and 2011, and joined Kapil Dev and MS Dhoni as the Indian captains to lift this coveted trophy.

The Women In Blue overcame defending champions and serial winners Australia in a thrilling, highly intense semi-final, and then hammered South Africa in the final by 52 runs to become women’s world champions for the first time in any format.

Shafali Verma and Deepti Sharma starred in the final with their applaudable all-round show. Verma was named the Player of the Final, while Deepti earned the Player of the Tournament award.

Video: Harmanpreet Kaur Roasts Pakistani Trolls With “Tea Is Fantastic” Gesture With Cup And World Cup Trophy

As celebrations continue among the Indian camp, a video went viral on Tuesday in which Harmanpreet has a tea/coffee mug in her hand. After taking a sip from it, she smiles and then poses with the World Cup trophy. The “tea is fantastic” reference dates back to 2019, a line spoken by Abhinandan Varthaman, Indian Air Force pilot and Wing Commander, who was in custody of Pakistan, and is used by fans on social media to troll each other’s country’s governments and forces.

Several Indian fans believe this is Harmanpreet’s reply not just to the Pakistani trollers, but also to Pakistani women’s batter Sidra Amin, who had made the “6-0” gesture last month after hitting a century in a WODI against South Africa prior to the Women’s World Cup.

Now, fans linked Kaur’s viral video to Amin’s gesture, which some felt was a political statement, as were Haris Rauf’s six-finger and plane-crashing gestures during the men’s Asia Cup, reflecting the Indo-Pak border crossfire earlier in the year.

Meanwhile, Harmanpreet Kaur has been receiving adulation for her terrific captaincy that saw the Indian team bounce back from three consecutive defeats and get on a winning streak, which eventually concluded with the trophy in hand.

Kaur said, “It’s very rare that things don’t go according to your plan, and yet you stay so positive. After losing the England match, we were really heartbroken. Sir [coach Amol Muzumdar] said that night, ‘You can’t make the same mistakes again and again. You have to cross that line.’ After that day, a lot changed for us. We started visualization and meditation. Everyone took it seriously and started enjoying it. That showed we were here for something, and this time we had to do it.”

When is the next match of Indian women’s cricket team?

The next series of the Indian women’s team is in February, when they are scheduled to tour Australia for three T20Is, three ODIs, and one Test match.
