Vaibhav Suryavanshi Touches Feet Of MS Dhoni: Rajasthan Royals’ prodigy batter Vaibhav Suryavanshi touched the feet of Chennai Super Kings captain MS Dhoni after RR demolished CSK in their last league stage game in IPL 2025.
Suryavanshi became the youngest player to appear at, and then be bought at, an IPL auction when the Royals bought him for Rs. 1.1 crore at the mega-auction in December 2024. After warming the bench in the first half of the season, an injury to captain Sanju Samson brought Vaibhav to the playing XI, making him the youngest player in league history at the age of 14.
The teenager from Bihar impressed in his first outing, making 34 runs in 20 deliveries, hitting three massive sixes. However, it was his third match in the RR colours that went down in history. With Rajasthan chasing 210 in Jaipur against top-of-the-table Gujarat Titans, Suryavanshi went off.

He started hitting from the word go and first went on to score his first IPL 50, then converted it into a century, reaching the milestone in 35 deliveries, making it the second-fastest hundred in the IPL and the fastest by an Indian.
The youngster had a couple more good performances in the league and has now ended the season with 252 runs in seven matches at an average of 36 and a strike rate of 206.56. And while he did score a century, he also scored a 50 in the last game of the season against CSK.
While batting first in Delhi, the Super Kings put up a target of 188. The opening pair of Yasahsvi Jaiswal and Vaibhav Suryavanshi gave RR a solid start. In the 37-run opening partnership in less than four overs, Jaiswal scored 36. Then, Vaibhav and Captain Sanju Samson had a near 100-run partnership.
While Sanju made 41 off 31, Suryavanshi scored 57 off 33 before being dismissed in the 14th over. The Royals ended up winning this match by six wickets and with 17 balls to spare.

Following the victory, as the teams lined up for handshakes, the 14-year-old, when approaching CSK captain MS Dhoni, bent down to touch his feet. Dhoni then brought the boy up and offered him a handshake instead.
It is crazy to realise that when Vaibhav Suryavanshi was born, Dhoni was already 29 years old and had been captain of the Indian Cricket Team for about four years. Vaibhav was born just five days before India’s triumph in the 2011 ODI World Cup. There is an almost 30-year gap between these two players who shared the field in this match, by far the oldest and youngest players in IPL 2025.
With this win, the Rajasthan Royals finished their campaign with four wins, 10 losses, and a negative net run rate. They will likely finish the league in this spot. That is because even if 10th-placed CSK wins their last league game, it will be next to impossible for them to cover up the massive difference in the net run rate.
