Shai Hope is a Barbadian cricketer who plays as a wicketkeeper-batsman for the West Indies and is the current ODI and T20I captain. He was named Men’s Cricketer of the Year, Test Cricketer of the Year, and ODI Cricketer of the Year at the 2018 Cricket West Indies Awards, and later won the CWI ODI Player of the Year in 2019. He has been named in the ICC ODI Team of the Year in 2020 and 2022 and is the first cricketer to score hundreds against all Full Member nations in international cricket.
Hope has played in various T20 leagues, including the Rangpur Rangers in the 2019–20 Bangladesh Premier League and the Barbados Tridents in the 2020 Caribbean Premier League. On 15 October 2022, he became captain of Barbados Pride for the 2021–22 Regional Super50 tournament. In 2023, he joined Yorkshire for three County Championship matches, scoring 83, 53*, and having one game abandoned due to rain.

Shai Hope’s Personal Life
Shai Hope has an older brother, Kyle Hope, who also plays professional cricket. He went to Queen’s College in Saint James, Barbados, for his secondary education and later studied at Bedes Senior School in East Sussex, England, where former Sussex captain Alan Wells coached him. While at Bedes, Hope led the 1st XI to the national 20/20 final and scored a half-century. In 2012, he played briefly for Chiddingly CC in East Sussex, averaging 46 runs with a top score of 61, and at that time he considered staying in the UK to qualify for England.

Shai Hope has been awarded a two-year central contract by Cricket West Indies that runs from October 1, 2024, to September 30, 2026.
