Just days after former Australian cricketer Brad Hogg sparked outrage for mocking Mohammad Rizwan’s English, another controversy has erupted in the cricketing world. This time, Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchise Multan Sultans has drawn criticism for using India captain Rohit Sharma’s press conference audio in a promotional video.
The video, shared by Multan Sultans, featured the PSL mascot introducing the 2025 PSL trophy while mimicking Rohit Sharma’s comments from his ICC Champions Trophy victory speech. The move didn’t sit well with Indian cricket fans, who called it inappropriate and disrespectful.
Fans React Strongly on Social Media
The clip quickly went viral, drawing heavy backlash from Indian fans. Many argued that the act was insensitive, especially after the recent controversy involving Brad Hogg and Rizwan. Here’s how fans reacted:
🔹 Cricket World (@Sunny29548707): “Shameful act.”
🔹 Dr. Fido Dido (@lame_Fido): “They should’ve avoided using Rohit’s audio.”
🔹 Prince Batr (@PrinceBatr66154): “Where are the Pakistanis who criticized Brad Hogg? Waiting for @amercric and Behram to speak up.”
PSL 2025 Set to Begin on April 11
Meanwhile, excitement builds for PSL Season 10, which kicks off on April 11. Defending champions Islamabad United will take on Lahore Qalandars at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium in the opening match. The six-team tournament will feature 34 matches, running until May 18.
Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium will host 13 matches, including the eliminators and the final. The tournament will also feature an exhibition match on April 8 in Peshawar, with team line-ups to be announced soon.
While Brad Hogg's actions towards Mohammad Rizwan were completely inappropriate, Multan Sultans and @aliktareen have further undermined his position by sharing a subpar video that involves body-shaming the World Cup-winning captain, Rohit Sharma
