All the domestic and continental tournaments have come to an end. Even the UEFA Nations League has come and gone. However, the 2024-25 season has an extension, namely the FIFA Club World Cup.
Before the first-ever edition of the revised CWC, we will look at the most valuable players in world football. These are the players with the highest market value. Not only are they some of the best footballers in the world, but they are also highly valuable for their clubs in more ways than one.
Here are the top 5 most valuable footballers in the world:
Top 5 Most Valuable Footballers In The World
5) Vinicius Jr – €170M
Real Madrid and Brazil star Vinicius Jr has been one of the poster boys of football for a few years now. Making his Real Madrid debut at a very young age in 2017, he has now grown into one of the greatest attacking players in the sport.
Vini is the latest in the long line of great Brazilian players who are considered some of the best from their generation, like Neymar and Ronaldo Nazário before him. Vinicius has been one of the greatest in his position over the last couple of seasons. He even finished second in the race for the Ballon d’Or in 2024 and was expected to win the whole thing.
Vinicius Junior, at the age of 24, had a market value of €170M. It is actually down after what has been, by his own standard, an underwhelming 2024-25 season. His market value peaked in December 2024, when it soared as high as €200M. Despite a drop in value, Vini is still among the most expensive players in the world.

4) Kylian Mbappé – €180M
Kylian Mbappé is the latest Galactico in the long line of superstars that have graced the Real Madrid jersey. His long saga with Los Blancos finally ended when he was signed by the Spanish giants at the start of the 2024-25 season. And while Real Madrid did not have the best season, Mbappé was arguably the best player on this team.
The French superstar was the highest goal scorer in La Liga this season, scoring 31 goals in 34 games and assisting thrice. He even scored seven goals in 14 UCL matches and was a stellar addition to the Madridistas’ attacking line. The challenge would now be to use him along with other stars in the team optimally.
Kylian Mbappé’s current market value is €180M. This is an increase of 10M from a month ago. His market value has now returned to where it was before the Real transfer. However, his peak value was back in December 2019, when he was 20 years old, worth €200M.
3) Erling Haaland – €180M
The only non-La Liga star on this list, Erling Haaland, is the most valuable Premier League player at the moment. The Manchester City striker has been the most prolific goal scorer ever since joining the Cityzens in 2022. And while this was not his best season, he is still arguably the best striker in the world.
Haaland, by his standard, had a disappointing 2024-25. He did not win the Premier League for the first time while playing in the league. In the same competition, he produced his lowest output of goals in a season, which was still 22 goals in 31 matches, and was not the highest goal scorer for the first time in three seasons.
Despite having a solid season objectively, it was a poor one by his own standards. This resulted in the Norwegian’s value taking a hit. Just a few months ago, in December 2024, Haaland’s market value was €200M. It has now fallen to €180M.
2) Jude Bellingham – €180M
Before Kylian Mbappe, Jude Bellingham was the newest star on the block for Real Madrid. Bought by the Spanish giants before the 2023-24 season, the English attacking midfielder was a revelation for Real and was one of the best players in the world in his first season in Madrid, even finishing third in the Ballon d’Or rankings that season.
In 2024-25, Bellingham has been the biggest victim of Mbappé’s move to Real Madrid. While he is still an essential piece of the team’s midfield, his offensive output has plummeted, as he scored only nine goals in La Liga compared to 19 last year.
Despite a lower number of goals, Jude is still among the best midfielders in the world. And with him being only 21, his market value is currently at its peak. At €180M, he is one of the most expensive players in the world.
1) Lamine Yamal – €200M
Lamine Yamal is just 17 years old and is a front-runner for the Ballon d’Or in 2025. While he has shown glimpses of the mega-star he will be in the future, the 2024-25 season was certainly his breakout season, with Yamal becoming a household name before even turning 18.
He first won the UEFA Euros with Spain, was named the Young Player of the Tournament and was in the Team of the Tournament. In La Liga, he has scored nine goals and assisted 13 and will be in the Team of the Season. He played a crucial role in taking Barca to a La Liga title and UCL semi-finals.
At such a young age, Lamine Yamal is already among the best players in the world. And for that, his market value is at the highest it has been for him. Yamal is the most expensive footballer in the world, with a transfer value of €200M.
