Brian Bennett’s Personal Life

Brian Bennett grew up in Goromonzi, about 32 km from Harare, in a cricket-focused family. He started playing when he was three or four years old. His father, Kelly Bennett, built practice nets at home so Brian, his twin brother David, and their younger brother could train every day after school. Having a twin meant he always had someone to practice with. One would bat, the other would bowl, and they repeated this routine for years.

His father played club cricket and a few first-class matches for Young Mashonaland, so the sport was already part of the family. Kelly later worked as a blueberry farmer but continued guiding his sons in cricket.

Brian studied at Peterhouse College, but his final school years were disrupted by COVID, with very little competitive cricket. In 2022, he moved to Kingswood College in South Africa for a bridging year, along with his twin. In one early match there, he scored 151 off 100 balls.

Bennett often visits his family farm in Ruwa and plays golf in his free time. He looks up to AB de Villiers and Virat Kohli and supports the Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the IPL. His main aim is to help Zimbabwe compete strongly against top teams and in major tournaments.
