Monank Patel is an Indian-born American cricketer and the current captain of the United States cricket team. He is a right-handed batter and also plays as a wicket-keeper. He has been an important player in the rise of cricket in the USA since making his debut in 2019. Under his captaincy, the USA defeated Pakistan in the group stage of the 2024 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. He currently plays for MI New York in Major League Cricket (MLC).
Patel played for Gujarat at the under-16 and under-18 levels. He received a green card in 2010. He moved permanently to the United States in 2016 and settled in New Jersey to open a restaurant. Monank Patel’s Personal Life
Monank Patel is married to Himani Patel (Himani Gohil). Himani earlier lived in Bharuch and later in Kharghar, Navi Mumbai. She moved to the United States in 2007. Their love story began when Himani liked and messaged Monank’s photo after he was selected for MI New York in Major League Cricket (MLC) 2023.
Himani is a big cricket fan and was a fan of Rohit Sharma and the Mumbai Indians team. Himani proposed to Monank at the Someshwar Mahadev Temple in the United States, located in Tennessee City. Monank accepted her proposal.
They first got married in October 2024 at the Shakti Temple in Atlanta, with a small gathering including their parents. Later, they came to India in December 2025 and got married again with family involvement.
