Lokesh Bam is a Nepalese cricketer who plays as a right-handed batter and wicket-keeper. He made his T20I debut for Nepal against the UAE on 12 February 2022.

He has played domestic cricket for Sudurpashchim Province and the Armed Police Force Club. In September 2025, he was picked in Nepal’s squad for a series against the West Indies and was later selected for Nepal’s squad for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026.

In the opening match against England at Wankhede Stadium, Bam scored 39 not out off 20 balls, but Nepal lost by 4 runs.

He has also been an important player for Biratnagar Kings in the Nepal Premier League. In the 2024 season, he made a match-winning half-century and was retained for the 2025 season. In 2025, he scored 72 off 48 balls in a record total of 220/6 against Pokhara Avengers, helping Biratnagar win by 53 runs, which became the highest team total in NPL history.

Lokesh Bam produced one of the most memorable performances of his career during Nepal’s close loss to England at the ICC T20 World Cup 2026 at Wankhede Stadium.

He came to bat when Nepal were 126/4, needing 59 runs from 27 balls, with the match almost slipping away. To keep Nepal in the chase, Bam attacked the bowling right away and hit boundaries off Sam Curran. 

He had the most impact against Jofra Archer, turning the match around with back-to-back sixes. Nepal’s target came down to 24 runs in the last two overs, giving them a real chance to win.

In the second-last over, Bam again hit the fence twice, putting Nepal in a strong position with only 10 needed in the final over. However, Sam Curran bowled a tight last over, and Nepal fell short.

In this match, Bam scored 39 runs off 20 balls, which became his highest score in T20 Internationals. His performance also highlighted his reputation as a big-hitting wicketkeeper-batter, with a strike rate of 145.45 in his international career. He has faced 110 balls in international cricket and has hit or cleared the boundary 24 times.

Lokesh Bam’s Personal Life

Lokesh Bam was born and raised in Dhangadhi, Nepal. He grew up in a big joint family that included his father, two mothers, two sisters, and a brother. His father was involved in politics, but Lokesh was never interested in that path.

He started getting into cricket in his neighborhood after being inspired by his neighbor, Janak Singh. In the beginning, he practiced using a rubber ball in a local field. He enrolled in the Dhangadhi Cricket Academy after passing the Secondary Education Examination (SEE), where he received coaching from Arjun Khadka. 

Lokesh prioritized sports over academics because he was more serious about cricket than his father, who wanted him to become an engineer. To improve his cricket career, he later moved to Kathmandu and joined the Nepal Cricket School (NCS). He also trained at the TU Ground.

For education, he completed his plus-two at SPA College in Dhangadhi through a scholarship and later went on to pursue a Bachelor’s degree. Outside of cricket, he enjoys traveling and is also known for collecting shoes.
