Matt Henry is a New Zealand cricketer who represents Canterbury at the domestic level and plays for the New Zealand national team. He is a right-arm fast-medium bowler. He was part of the New Zealand side that won the 2019–2021 ICC World Test Championship.
He regularly bowls above 140 kmph. He took four wickets on his ODI debut against India in 2014, taking four wickets on ODI debut. Those figures were the third best by a New Zealand debutant and helped New Zealand secure a 4–0 series win.
He plays domestic cricket for Canterbury and helped the team win both the Ford Trophy and the Plunket Shield in the 2020–21 season. Matt Henry’s Personal Life
Matt Henry grew up playing cricket in New Zealand with his brother in the backyard. He started in domestic cricket for Canterbury, often in front of very few spectators.
At 23, he got called into New Zealand’s World Cup squad to replace injured Adam Milne. He played in the semifinal against South Africa at Eden Park in front of 40,000 fans. Henry bowled tightly, helping New Zealand win by four wickets.
