Jasprit Bumrah Takes His 400th International Wicket

Jasprit Bumrah Takes His 400th International Wicket: Once again, Jasprit Bumrah rattled the stumps. Once again, Ben Stokes let out an expression of disbelief and helplessness. Bumrah, though, has the ability to elicit such reactions of surrender from even the finest of the batsmen.

Having gone luckless on day 1 of the IND vs ENG Lords Test, when he induced over 30 false shots but got only one wicket, Bumrah bagged three wickets in his first three overs of day 2 of the IND vs ENG 3rd Test. His scalps on Friday included the huge wickets of the England captain Ben Stokes and centurion Joe Root.

Bumrah didn’t allow Stokes to settle in on a good batting pitch with the sun out, and got rid of Root soon after he had reached his 37th Test century. Both those wickets came through outstanding deliveries that breached the defenses of Stokes and Root.

Ben Stokes got a proper corker from Bumrah. The Indian spearhead pacer went round the wicket to Stokes and landed a delivery on a good length outside the off-stump. The ball nipped into Stokes a bit, enough to sneak through his pad-pad gap and rattle the off-stump and peg it out of the ground.

Then Bumrah got Root with a ball that seamed in and took Root’s inside edge before crashing into the stumps. On the next ball, he had Chris Woakes edging to wicket-keeper Dhruv Jurel.
