India Level England On Day 3

India Level England On Day 3: After three days of cricket in the ongoing Test match, almost nothing separates India and England in this game, as both teams scored the same number in the first inning.

Today was Day Three of the third England vs India Test match of the five-game Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy. This match is being played at the ‘Mecca of Cricket’, Lord’s Cricket Ground. The home side won the toss and decided to bat first. On the first day, England lost both their openers in the first session, but Joe Root and Ollie Pope rescued the innings.

Root would end up scoring a century in this inning, while Jamie Smith and Brydon Carse scored 50s. And with decent support from Ollie Pope and captain Ben Stokes, the English ended their inning at 387 runs.

On Day Two, after England ended their inning, India came out to bat. However, after scoring a few boundaries, Yashasvi Jaiswal got out for 13 in the second over of the inning. KL Rahul and Karun Nair then brought the innings on track, taking the team past 70 runs before Nair, once again in this series, could not score big after getting a decent start in this series.

Indian Cricket Team captain Shubman Gill, after breaking many records in the last match, was dismissed early, after scoring just 16 runs. India ended the second day at 145/3 with Rahul and Rishabh Pant on strike.

Day Three started with the two batters racking up some quick runs. While Pant reached his half-century, KL raced toward a ton after India went past the 200-run mark.

With the Indian Cricket Team trailing by about 150 runs, Pant went after Shoaib Bashir, hitting him for multiple boundaries. However, just before the lunch break, the two Indian batters attempted to take a quick single. But an excellent throw by Stokes at the stumps ran Rishabh Pant out, who was dismissed for 74.

KL Rahul went into lunch at 98. And soon after the play resumed, he reached the three-digit milestone. But, rather than making his ton a big one, KL Rahul, in a moment of lost concentration, played a lazy shot off an average delivery by Bashir, edged the ball, and was caught behind.

The Indian Cricket Team is still over 120 runs behind. Ravindra Jadeja took charge. He, along with Nitish Kumar Reddy, struggled against a fiery English pace attack. But the two trudged along and came into the tea break with their wickets in hand.

However, soon after the return to play, Reddy was dismissed by Stokes. But by this time, India was only about 60 runs behind England’s first-inning total. By the time Ravindra Jadeja got out for 72, the team score was 376, just 11 runs behind.

However, India then went on to lose their last three wickets in the next six overs, only adding 11 more runs. India ended their first innings on level with England. The first three days of this match were not enough to separate these two.

The Men in Blue got to bowl exactly one over, which was bowled by Jasprit Bumrah. To ensure India bowled not one but two overs in the evening, England opener Zak Crawley attempted to waste a lot of time, due to which things got heated between the two teams. The Indian captain taunted Crawley, asking the English opener to “grow some balls.”

At the end of the day’s play, England was 2/0 and in a two-run lead. While this has been a slow-paced match compared to an average English Cricket Team Test, the next two days need to be a little quicker if this England vs India match needs a result.
