India Beats England In 2026 U19 World Cup Final: The India U19 Cricket Team thrashed England in the final of the ICC Under-19 World Cup 2026, winning the match by 100 runs on the back of a historic performance by 15-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi.
India’s path to the final was quite breezy. They topped Group B by defeating Bangladesh, New Zealand, and the USA. Then, in the Super 6 stage, they topped Group B by winning both of their games against Zimbabwe and Pakistan. In the semi-final, they dominated Afghanistan to make their way into the final.
On the other hand, England also dominated in the group stage, topping Group C with wins against Pakistan, Zimbabwe, and Scotland. Then, in the Super 6, they won both their games against Bangladesh and New Zealand. Due to an inferior net run rate, the Three Lions finished behind India in Group B of the Super 6. Then came the semi-final against Australia, which they won to make their way into the final.
The final of the 2026 U19 World Cup was played at Harare Sports Club in the capital of Zimbabwe and saw the Boys in Blue win the toss, deciding to bat first on this batting-friendly pitch.

India’s start to their inning was not optimal, as in-form opener Aaron George was dismissed in the fourth over after making just nine runs. But then came a partnership between two of the most popular batters in the team. The pair of Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and Captain Ayush Mhatre have already proven themselves on a massive stage like the IPL, and they had the opportunity to put their team on the front foot here.
That is exactly what the two did. Over the next 15 overs, the two batted together. While the skipper took on a supporting role, the 15-year-old showed why he is considered one of the best prospects in this sport.
By the time Mhatre was dismissed at the end of the 19th over, he had made 53 off 51. Sooryavanshi was dismissed in the 26th over. But by the time of his wicket, he had played one of the greatest innings in any ICC competition. The boy from Bihar made a whopping 175 runs in a final, that too in just 80 balls. He also briefly took the title of the highest run scorer of the tournament with this innings.
A few solid performances by the likes of Vedant Trivedi (32 off 36), Abhigyan Kundu (40 off 31), Vihaan Malhotra (30 off 36), and Kanishk Chouhan (37 off 20) took India past the mammoth mark of 400 runs. The total at the end of 50 overs was 411/9.
England responded well with the bat. Opener Ben Dawkins made 66 off 56. Ben Mayes, with his 45 off 28, took the title of the highest run scorer in the tournament back from Sooryavanshi. Caleb Falconer, who has had a great World Cup, made 115 in just 67 balls.
But all this was never going to be enough, as the England U19 cricket team was dismissed for 311 in 40 overs, losing the match by 100 runs. The India U19 Cricket Team has won the World Cup for the sixth time in history.
For his record-breaking inning, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi was not only named the Player of the Match, but for his stellar performances throughout, he was also named the Player of the Tournament for the ICC Under-19 World Cup 2026, scoring 439 runs in seven matches at an average of 62.71 and a strike rate of 169.49.
