Touted as the favorites to lift the 2026 T20 World Cup trophy, the Indian cricket team stormed their way into the Super 8 round on the back of three wins in three matches in the group stage.
Following their thumping 61-run victory over Pakistan in Colombo, the Men in Blue became the first side from Group A to seal their position in the next round of the competition.
Earlier, Suryakumar Yadav’s side overcame a tricky challenge against the USA before hammering Namibia.
India’s white-ball teams currently carry a similar aura to Ricky Ponting’s legendary Australian limited-overs unit during the 2000s era. India have won 26 of their last 27 matches in ICC tournaments.
This golden period began in the 2023 World Cup – where India lost only one match: the final – followed by unbeaten campaigns at the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 and the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.
The Asian giants have one group match remaining – against the Netherlands on Wednesday, February 18, in Ahmedabad.
