“Ek Taraf Mohammed Ek Taraf Krishna,”:

Twitterati Applaud Mohammed Siraj And Prasidh Krishna: The IND vs ENG Test series continues to keep the fans hooked, with both teams failing to grab their opportunities and run away with the Test matches and consequently the series.

The IND vs ENG series is into its absolute final leg—as the 5th Test has now become effectively a last innings shootout—and yet, the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy is undecided, with England having a 2-1 lead, but now India also have a good chance of drawing the series level after a spirited performance from their pacers on day 2 at The Oval.

By lunch on day 2 of the 5th Test, England were on top and threatened to take a huge first innings lead and bat India out of the game, which would at least have secured them a series win.

However, a session later, the game was back in balance, courtesy of a thunderous bowling performance from India pacers Mohammed Siraj and Prasidh Krishna.

India were bowled out for 224 in their first innings, managing to add only 20 more runs to their overnight score for the loss of four wickets. England openers came out with their characteristic gung-ho approach, this time more aggressive in the absence of Jasprit Bumrah.

Zak Crawley and Ben Duckett utterly blasted the Indian pace trio of Siraj, Krishna, and Akash Deep. The duo batted at a strike rate of more than 110 and flayed the Indian bowlers all around at The Oval. Duckett was dismissed by Deep for 43 off 38, but England went into lunch at 109/1 in 16 overs, trailing by only 115 runs more.

Mohammed Siraj and Prasidh Krishna, though, turned the game on its head in the post-lunch session and dragged India back into the game.

Siraj breathed fire, keeping the intensity high, defying the tiredness of his body and mind, as he is the only one of the two pacers across both teams to play in all five Tests in this series. Krishna, on the other end, finally justified his talents and repaid the backing made by the team management in him despite his two poor outings earlier in this series. The lanky pacer kept things tight and economical from his end, which also brought him wickets when he bowled his characteristic back-of-length deliveries.

Mohammed Siraj dismissed Ollie Pope, Joe Root, Jacob Bethell, and Harry Brook. Krishna accounted for the wickets of Crawley, Jamie Smith, Jamie Overton, and Gus Atkinson. The injured Chris Woakes didn’t come out to bat.

England were bowled out for 247 runs, finishing with a lead of 23 runs, which Yashasvi Jaiswal wiped out quickly in India’s second innings.

Fans on Twitter lavished praise on the Indian pace duo for their terrific bowling that kept India alive in the game and in the series.
