After a solid start to last season, the Delhi Capitals, in a disappointing manner, missed out on the playoffs last season. And so, they have made some big releases and will likely go into the next season with many new faces.
The deadline for retentions for IPL 2026 was today. We now take a look at the base structure for each team, with which they will enter the auction next month. Here, we will look at the Capitals and the players they have retained from their last season’s squad.
DC made a few trades before the retention deadline. First, they traded for batter Nitish Rana from the Rajasthan Royals for Rs. 4.2 crore. And then, they sent Donovan Ferreira to the Royals for Rs. 1 crore.

Captain Axar Patel was an obvious retention for this team, as was the star wicketkeeper/batter KL Rahul. Other retentions from the team’s batting order include Tristan, Sameer Rizvi, Karun Nair, and Abhishek Porel.
There are quite a lot of all-rounders in this team, led by captain Patel. Other all-rounders include Ashtosh Sharma, Vipraj Nigam, Madhav Tiwari, Tripurna Vijay, and Ajay Mandal.
This team had only one specialised spinner last season, which they have retained this year as well, that being the world-class Kuldeep Yadav.
Finally, the pacers retained by this team are Mitchell Starc, T Natarajan, Mukesh Kumar, and Dushmantha Chameera.
