Scott Michael Boland is an Australian fast-medium bowler who plays international cricket for Australia and domestic cricket for Victoria and the Melbourne Stars. He was named Sheffield Shield Player of the Year in 2019.
Boland is one of the few Indigenous Australians to represent the national team and became only the second male Aboriginal player to play Test cricket for Australia, after Jason Gillespie. He was part of the Australian side that won the 2023 ICC World Test Championship final.
On 14 July 2025, in the third Test of the Frank Worrell Trophy at Sabina Park in Jamaica, Boland became the 10th Australian player and the first First Nations Australian to take a hat-trick in Test cricket.
Scott Boland Records and Achievements

Scott Boland’s Personal Life
Scott Boland was overweight as a teenager and worked part-time as a bartender, but a direct talk from his club coach pushed him to lose weight and take cricket seriously. His shy nature stayed with him even when he became a national hero after taking 6 for 7 on his Test debut at the MCG in 2021.
Boland learned about his Aboriginal heritage only in his mid-20s. His family had kept those memories quiet for years, and the first clues came from stories about his grandfather Jack, who often spoke about Colac, an area connected to the Gulidjan and Gadubanud people. Later, Boland’s uncle discovered that Jack’s real name was Alexander John Wyn, who had been adopted and may have been part of Australia’s “stolen generation,” a period when Aboriginal children were forcibly removed from their families.
