BCCI To Hold Meeting To Decide IPL 2025 Fate: The Board of Cricket Control in India (BCCI) will be reviewing whether the ongoing IPL 2025 will continue as is amidst cross-border attacks and a war-like situation between India and Pakistan. The express board will be making a decision tomorrow.
India-Pakistan relations have rapidly deteriorated over the last couple of weeks. It all started on April 22, when terrorists attacked tourists in the Baisaran Valley in Pahalgam, J&K. This was followed by India cancelling treaties, halting trade, and cancelling visas with Pakistan.
However, the situation escalated to new levels when India launched a surgical-strike-like operation on terrorist bases in Pakistan. The Indian Army claimed to have downed about 100 militants at nine locations. But no civilians or military structures were targeted.

This was followed by shelling and shooting from our neighbours to the west at several civilian locations. Now, on May 8. The situation took a nasty turn as missiles and drones from across the border were launched on several Indian cities, but were intercepted without causing any harm.
Dharamshala, which is in Himachal Pradesh, is about 100 km away from the Pakistan border. One of the most common ways to reach the city is via the town of Pathankot, which is mere kilometres from the border. It is also the closest city to host an IPL match to the border.
Punjab Kings, which was supposed to play three of their home games at Dharamshala, moved the last one of those against Mumbai Indians on Sunday, May 11, to the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. However, the May 8 match against the Delhi Capitals went ahead as planned.

With PBKS at 122/1 in 10.1 overs, the lights in the HPCA Stadium went out. It was first believed to be a floodlight failure. However, soon after, players and fans were evacuated from the 23000-seater stadium due to the intensity of the conflict on the border, which grew tenfold hours before the match started. The stadium was over 80% full.
Now, the BCCI stakeholders held an emergency meeting after the PBKS vs DC match was called off after air raid sirens went off in neighbouring cities. IPL chairman Arun Dhumal clarified that despite no clear instruction from the Indian government regarding the continuation of IPL 2025, the fate of this season will be decided in the upcoming days.
As for the players present in Dharamshala, including the likes of Rohit Sharma, Shreyas Iyer, Hardik Pandya, and Jasprit Bumrah, they will be evacuated by the BCCI, as a special train has been arranged for the players, the support staff, and the broadcast crew.
As the tournament stands, GT and RCB occupy the top two spots with 16 points each. PBKS, who got one point after a no contest against DC, are on 16 points. Meanwhile, Mumbai and Delhi are on 14 points each, at fourth and fifth, respectively.
