A Look at the Highest Chases in Womens ODI

Highest Chases in Womens ODI History: The 2025 ICC Women’s ODI World Cup in India has produced historic records and memorable performances, particularly during India’s victory over Australia in the semi-finals. India beat Australia’s 331-run chase against India earlier in the same tournament to successfully chase a target of 339 runs, creating a new world record for the highest chase in women’s ODI history. Before this, India’s best chase in ODIs was 265 against Australia in 2021, and they had never chased more than 200 runs in a World Cup match.

Australia came into the semi-final on a streak of 15 consecutive World Cup wins, their last defeat also being to India in the 2017 semi-final. This tied the record for the joint-longest winning streak in Women’s ODI World Cup history.

India scored 341 for 5, their highest total in a World Cup match, one run more than their 340 for 3 against New Zealand the previous week. This total is also the second-highest by any team against Australia in women’s ODIs, behind Australia’s 369 in Delhi the previous month.

The match aggregate of 679 runs made it the highest combined total in a Women’s ODI World Cup game, surpassing the 678-run match between England and South Africa in 2017, and the second-highest overall in women’s ODIs after the 781-run game between India and Australia in Delhi in 2025.

Jemimah Rodrigues starred with 127 not out, recording the highest score by an Indian in an ODI chase, beating Smriti Mandhana’s 125 against Australia earlier in the tournament. Her partnership of 167 runs with Harmanpreet Kaur for the third wicket became the highest-ever against Australia at the Women’s ODI World Cup and the third-highest against Australia in all women’s ODIs.
