Ibrahim Zadran is the nephew of Noor Ali Zadran, who is one of the founding fathers of Afghanistan cricket. Ibrahim is also the cousin of Mujeeb ur Rahman. Both Ibrahim and Mujeeb are seen as among the first homegrown Afghan cricketers to reach the international team without being born in Pakistan or learning cricket there.
Noor built a cricket academy on the family’s 2000-square-meter farm in Khost, Afghanistan. That place became the main training ground for Ibrahim and Mujeeb. Ibrahim became interested in cricket after watching Noor play in the 2010 World T20 in the West Indies. Noor said Ibrahim was inspired after seeing him score a fifty against India.
Ibrahim first started playing cricket at home using a softball with his cousins. He and Mujeeb began their cricket journey together and have continued progressing side by side. Noor supported Ibrahim by providing himwith cricket equipment like bats, pads, and thigh guards.
The family also made a clear decision not to talk about cricket with Ibrahim at home. Noor explained that he did not want Ibrahim to feel pressure or disappointment if he failed, because Noor himself had felt that kind of pressure earlier.
