Sheamus World Championships: Stephen Farrelly, also known as Sheamus, is an Irish professional wrestler currently signed to WWE. He made his professional wrestling debut in 2009 on the ECW brand. His initial character was considered as a ruthless heel. He quickly moved to the WWE roster, and during one of his very first matches on Raw, he attacked Jamie Noble, a segment that effectively ended Noble’s in-ring career in reality. This segment gave Sheamus a lot of “heat” from the WWE Universe.
He is also the only professional wrestler, alongside Edge, who has won every major non-title achievement in WWE. He won the King of the Ring tournament in 2010, won the Royal Rumble Winner match in 2012, and he also won the Money in the Bank contract, which he successfully cashed in.
Around 2016, the WWE universe grew tired of his “Celtic Warrior” babyface character, which led to him being moved to the lower card. However, he had a “Best of Seven” series against Cesaro, which ended in a draw. After that, both he and Cesaro ended up in a tag team, “The Bar”, which quickly got over among the WWE universe.
In 2021, he formed a faction with Butch and Ridge Holland; this faction was based on delivering “Banger after Banger” matches, leaning into their “hard-hitting” reputation. He has won every single championship in the WWE except the Intercontinental Championship. He faced Gunther at the 2022 Clash at the Castle, where, despite being defeated, he received a standing ovation, and this match is cited as one of the best professional wrestling matches of the decade.
As of 2025, he is currently injured, and he was pulled from the “Last Time is Now” tournament due to a shoulder injury. Early this year, he was also injured and had to miss a few months of the action after a brutal storyline attack by Ludwig Kaiser that broke his ribs. Recently, on December 13, 2025, for the first time, he hinted on social media that his professional wrestling career might be coming to an end.
Sheamus World Championships
Sheamus has won four World Championships in his WWE career. He won his first-ever WWE World Championship at the TLC premium live event, where he faced John Cena for the WWE Championship in a table match. This match is considered one of the biggest upsets in the WWE, as Sheamus had only been on the main roster for four months, and nobody expected him to win. However, he won the match and became the WWE champion for the first time in his career.
His most famous World Championship win came in 2012 at WrestleMania 28. He won the 2012 Royal Rumble and challenged Daniel Bryan for a World Championship win at WrestleMania 28. As soon as this match started, Sheamus delivered a Brogue Kick and secured the win in 18 seconds, and became the new World Heavyweight Champion.
His most recent World Championship win happened at the 2015 Survivor Series. During this premium live event, Roman Reigns defeated Dean Ambrose in a tournament final to win the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. After the match, in a shocking moment, Sheamus came out with his Money in the Bank Contract and successfully cashed in on Reigns to become the new WWE World Heavyweight Champion.
