WWE NXT Highlights
Joe Hendry opens the show
New NXT Men’s Champion Joe Hendry came out and thanked the crowd for believing in him. He said the fans brought him back to life last week when Ricky Saints was close to winning the title. Hendry talked about his long journey, starting in amateur wrestling, becoming TNA World Heavyweight Champion, having his entrance song chart worldwide, and even getting to face Randy Orton at WrestleMania. He said “we believe” is not just a catchphrase, it’s a real movement.
Then the Vanity Project interrupted him. Jackson Drake mocked Hendry and acted fake inspired, before saying Hendry never should’ve been in the ladder match. He admitted Vanity Project attacked him before because Hendry disrespected them and made Ricky Smokes disappear. Drake said they should take Hendry out again and steal the title. Hendry accepted the challenge, but Vanity Project attacked him with a chop block and a Busaiku Knee.
Blake Monroe vs Jaida Parker
Jaida Parker attacked Blake Monroe the moment she stepped into the ring, and the ref struggled to control them. Once the bell rang, Blake threw her entrance robe at Jaida and tried to escape, but quickly turned things around and beat Parker down inside the ring. Jaida answered back with a strong German suplex and slowed the match down with a tight bodyscissors. Both brawled outside for too long, leading to a double count-out draw. Jaida crushed Blake with a seated senton on the steps, but Monroe escaped through the crowd.
Speed Men’s Championship Semifinals – Eli Knight vs. Josh Briggs
Eli Knight and Josh Briggs battled in the WWE Speed Men’s Championship #1 Contender’s Tournament semifinals. Knight connected with a superkick, then followed it up with the Busaiku Knee. He went up top and finished the match with a diving moonsault for the pinfall win. After the match, Knight shook hands with Elio Lafleur as they prepared for the finals.
Darkstate, Shawn Spears & Niko Vance Confrontation
Darkstate came out, and Dion Lennox said they are on a championship level. He admitted they didn’t win the big title last week, but promised whoever wins tonight will be his next target until he gets gold. Cutler James backed him up, saying Darkstate is stronger than ever, while Tony D’Angelo is alone and has no friends or family left.
Shawn Spears and Niko Vance appeared above them, saying they weren’t falling into a 4-on-2 trap. They claimed they plan first, then conquer later, and said Darkstate would be hunted for the tag titles.
OTM showed up in the crowd, saying they still want the tag belts and blamed Vanity Project for stopping them. Hank and Tank then came out, saying they’re coming back for the titles too. A brawl broke out, and Tony D’Angelo surprised everyone by hitting spinebusters on Lennox and James.
NXT Men’s Championship – Joe Hendry (c) vs Jackson Drake
Jackson Drake came out fast against NXT Men’s Champion Joe Hendry, hitting a shotgun dropkick and a senton atomico, but Hendry kicked out. Hendry took control with big power moves that sent Drake to the floor. Outside, Hendry warned Swipe Right, but they interfered and threw him into the steel steps. Referee Darryl Sharma had enough and ejected Swipe Right from the ringside. Hendry then caught Drake, hit a powerbomb, and finished him with Standing Ovation to win by pinfall and retain the NXT Men’s Championship.
Hank and Tank vs Swipe Right
Hank and Tank started strong against Swipe Right. Swipe Right slowly turned things around when Ricky Smokes tagged in and used a side headlock and teamwork to take control. They trapped Hank in the corner and kept him isolated going into the break.
But outside distractions changed everything. The Culling appeared on the stage, the referee got distracted, and Jackson Drake ran in to land a cheap shot. Right after that, Brad Baylor rolled Tank up with a quick schoolboy pin. Swipe Right stole the win by pinfall.
WrenQCC vs ZaRuca
WrenQCC and ZaRuca had a fast, back-and-forth tag match, with the winner of the fall earning a shot at the NXT Women’s Championship. After some time, the action got even more intense with nearfalls from both teams. Zaria’s strength turned the tide, and the ending came when ZaRuca hit a huge double finish. Zaria landed an F-5 on Wren while Sol hit the Sol Snatcher on Kendal. ZaRuca won by pinfall, making Sol Ruca the new #1 contender.
