Mark Chapman is a cricketer who has represented both Hong Kong and New Zealand in limited-overs international cricket. He is a left-handed batter and also bowls part-time slow left-arm spin. Chapman made his ODI debut for Hong Kong against the UAE on 16 November 2015 during the ICC World Cricket League Championship.
Chapman was born in Hong Kong and started his international career there in 2014 after earlier being selected for the Under-19 side at just 15 years old. He scored a century on his ODI debut for Hong Kong in 2015 after travelling long hours from New Zealand following exams. His first New Zealand selection came in early 2018 for a T20 tri-series against England and Australia. In May 2024, Chapman was included in New Zealand’s squad for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.

Mark was part of Hong Kong’s squad for the 2014 ICC World Twenty20, which was the country’s first appearance in a major ICC tournament. He made his T20I debut on 16 March 2014 for Hong Kong. He scored the most runs for Hong Kong in the 2014 Asian Games bronze medal match against Bangladesh.
He became the first Hong Kong player to score an ODI century when he made 124 not out on his ODI debut in November 2015. He was also the first player from an associate nation to score a century on ODI debut and only the second player overall to do it at a strike rate above 100.

Mark Chapman’s Personal Life
Mark Chapman was born in Hong Kong in 1994. His father, Peter Chapman, is from New Zealand and worked as a Crown Prosecutor in Hong Kong. His mother, Anne, is Chinese and worked in the financial sector. Chapman learned cricket in Hong Kong and grew up playing the game among the city’s high-rise surroundings.
He made his debut for Hong Kong Under-15s at the age of 11. At 13, he moved to New Zealand to study at King’s College in Auckland but continued to remain part of Hong Kong’s cricket system. He played for the school’s first XI from Year 10 as a left-arm spinner who batted lower down the order.
