CSK Seal Landmark Trade for Sanju Samson as Jadeja Returns to Rajasthan

In a move that redraws several familiar lines in the IPL’s shifting geography, Chennai Super Kings have secured Sanju Samson in what the franchise is calling its largest trade outlay to date. Samson joins at ₹18 crore, becoming central to CSK’s long-anticipated succession planning for MS Dhoni, who is expected to play one more season.

The trade has sent two seasoned assets in the opposite direction. Ravindra Jadeja, after 12 years and more than 250 games for Chennai, returns to his first employer, Rajasthan Royals, at a revised fee of ₹14 crore. England allrounder Sam Curran also moves to Jaipur, fetched for ₹2.4 crore as part of the same negotiation.

New Journey for Sanju Samson

For Samson, CSK will be a fourth franchise across 177 IPL matches, although the wicketkeeper-batter’s career has been tied largely to Rajasthan since 2013. His arrival offers Chennai not merely runs but optionality: a top-order stabiliser, a glovesman, and a leadership contender.

Rajasthan, meanwhile, reacquire a figure whose all-round utility and competitive edge once shaped their early seasons. Jadeja’s return suggests a franchise recalibrating its core with familiar hands, while Chennai’s willingness to part with him marks an unmistakable turn in an era now edging toward its close.
