Mark William Calaway, or the Undertaker, is an American Professional wrestler. He was born in Houston, Texas, United States, on 24 March 1965. Mark William Calaway made his professional wrestling debut in the WWE at the Survivor Series 1990. During his initial career, he was managed by Paul Bearer. Not even a year after his debut, he won his first World Championship in the WWE by defeating Hulk Hogan at Survivor Series 1991.
In the 2000s, he dropped the “Deadman” and introduced a new character named “American Bad Ass”. This character was very well-received by the WWE fans and was more grounded, allowing him to showcase his wrestling skills. In 2004, he revisited the “Deadman” character and began to defeat top stars, including Shawn Michaels and Triple H, to continue his WrestleMania streak. He went undefeated for almost 21 years at WrestleMania, and he lost his first-ever match at WrestleMania XXX in 2014 against Brock Lesnar.
The Undertaker wrestled his final match during the pandemic era against AJ Styles in a Boneyard Match at WrestleMania 36. He officially announced his in-ring retirement at the Survivor Series 2020, exactly 30 years after his debut at the same event. He was formally inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2022, and the induction was conducted by Vince McMahon himself. As of 2025, he is signed to a “Legends Contract” and is also currently serving as a Brand Ambassador for WWE.
