Neymar Negotiating Surprise Deal With Marseille: Brazilian football superstar Neymar, who currently plays for Santos in Brazil, is reportedly pushing for and negotiating a move to French club Olympique de Marseille, where he will get to play alongside controversial former Manchester United star Mason Greenwood.
The Brazilian became one of the highest-paid athletes in the world when he signed for Saudi side Al Hilal in 2023. However, he played only a handful of matches for them before rupturing his ACL and being out of competition for over a year. He returned from injury in late 2024 and suffered another injury. After a year and a half where he played less than 10 matches for the club, Neymar’s contract was terminated in January 2025.

This prompted the former PSG star to return to his boyhood club of Santos in the Brazilian league. He even showed signs of his world-class skill in the first few matches during his second and ongoing stint with Santos.
However, the injury bug has followed him to Brazil, as he has missed 11 matches across competitions since signing in January. The club has been kicked out of domestic cups and finds itself slipping to the relegation zone of the Brazilian Serie A.
Now, the 33-year-old, after an incident with a reporter following the recent 3-0 defeat to Mirassol, is negotiating a shock move to Marseille. The incident was a reporter asking about his fitness. Upon being asked this question, the Brazilian icon snapped. Another incident saw him in a shouting exchange with a fan.
Side note, that altercation with the fan saw the home crowd kick that fan out themselves. The club’s fans subsequently released a statement, claiming that they are exhausted with their team’s poor performances.

If he does move to the French club, the former Barcelona star will play alongside a certain Mason Greenwood, who left Manchester United on loan to Getafe after being accused of assaulting his former girlfriend. In 2024, he made a permanent move to Marseille.
Neymar, at the age of 33, has been struggling with injuries for years now. A move to a top European league might just be what he needs to bring his career back on track, or it might just be the last big move of his career.
