South African all-rounder Corbin Bosch has found himself in hot water with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) after withdrawing from the Pakistan Super League (PSL) to join Mumbai Indians (MI) for IPL 2025. The 30-year-old cricketer made a sudden exit from the PSL, which prompted the PCB to issue a legal notice seeking an explanation.
Why Did Corbin Bosch Withdraw from PSL?
Bosch, who was initially set to represent Peshawar Zalmi, was later named as a replacement for Lizaad Williams in the Mumbai Indians squad. His decision to opt out of the PSL left PCB officials questioning his commitment, but Bosch has now clarified his stance.
According to a report by Cricket Pakistan, Bosch stated that his choice was purely based on career growth and not a sign of disrespect toward the PSL.
“My decision was not intended to undermine the PSL. I had to prioritize my future, and playing for Mumbai Indians opens doors to opportunities beyond the IPL, as they have franchises in multiple leagues. This move could significantly benefit my career,” Bosch explained.
Could Bosch Face a PSL Ban?
Following Bosch’s withdrawal, PCB officials are deliberating on potential consequences. While some believe that banning him from future PSL seasons would uphold the league’s credibility, others argue that such a move could discourage international players from participating.
“Some officials advocate for a ban as a deterrent, while others feel a symbolic penalty would be a better resolution. The PCB is expected to finalize its decision in the coming days,” the report added.
As the cricketing world watches closely, it remains to be seen whether the PCB will take a strict stance or adopt a more lenient approach.
