Virat Kohli dismissal in IPL 2025 final: While Virat Kohli played a match-winning half-century knock in last year’s T20 World Cup final against South Africa in Barbados for India, he couldn’t repeat his feat in the big IPL 2025 final for RCB against Punjab Kings on Tuesday evening in Ahmedabad.
RCB and PBKS, two teams who have played all the IPL seasons since its inception in 2008 but have failed to win a trophy yet, met in the all-important IPL 2025 final, RCB vs PBKS, at the gigantic Narendra Modi Stadium, with the majority of the one-lakh capacity crowd in support of RCB and their biggest superstar, Virat Kohli.
It looked for a long time that Kohli could push RCB to a sub-200 total and in process produce a score of fifty-plus. However, some excellent bowling and fielding efforts from Afghanistan’s Azmatullah Omarzai put an end to Kohli’s innings for 43 runs.
It could also be argued that this innings from Kohli, who has played all 18 seasons of the IPL and has reinvented his T20 game over the last couple of years, could have hurt RCB as he took 35 balls to score 43 runs. In his innings of 35 balls, Kohli managed to hit just three fours and no six and finished with a strike rate of just 126. This innings could bite back RCB if they fail to put on an above-par score as the pitch in Ahmedabad has been full of runs this season and PBKS have a deep, in-form batting line-up.
Azmatullah Omarzai, who has been impressive with the ball this season, got rid of Kohli in the 15th over of RCB’s innings as Kohli aimed to push up the run rate. Omarzai bowled a cutter into the pitch and short in length. Kohli played a pull shot but got the top edge. With no pace on the ball, Kohli’s top edge couldn’t even clear the side pitches.
Omarzai sprinted and put in an athletic dive to complete a sensational caught and bowl dismissal of RCB’s main man, Virat Kohli.
