IPL 2025 Playoffs Schedule: Jitesh Sharma produced his highest IPL score and his best knock in the competition at the most opportune time for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) as his blockbuster innings of 85* off only 33 balls against the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) helped RCB displace the Gujarat Titans (GT) from the second position in the points table in what was the last league game of the IPL 2025 season.
The IPL playoffs standings and matches were still not finalised until match 70 of the league stage was over. The RCB vs LSG match on Tuesday in Lucknow was swung in RCB’s favor by two outstanding knocks from Virat Kohli, who whacked 54 off 30 to set the platform for the chase of 228 runs, and Jitesh, whose marauding 85* (33) included eight fours and six sixes.
RCB have had one of their best IPL seasons ever—and certainly the most well-rounded one, with significant contributions from almost everyone—and it’s fitting that they will play Qualifier 1 as RCB, and Virat Kohli, aim for a maiden IPL trophy.
The IPL playoffs were previously slated to be played in Hyderabad and Kolkata, but the schedule for the playoffs was amended after the one-week break earlier this month, and they will now be hosted in Mullanpur and Ahmedabad.
At the end of the league stage in IPL 2025, Punjab Kings (PBKS) topped the table with 19 points. In the second spot are RCB, who also have 19 points.
PBKS have a slightly better NRR than RCB, but that doesn’t matter now heading into the IPL playoffs, as the two teams will clash in Qualifier 1, which will be played in Mullanpur, Chandigarh, Punjab’s home ground, on Thursday, May 29.
This means that GT, who were pushed from the second to the third spot by RCB, will take on the Mumbai Indians (MI) in the Eliminator on Friday, May 30, in Ahmedabad.
The winner of Qualifier 1 will proceed to the final. The loser, though, will have another chance to reach the final. The losing side in Qualifier 1 will meet the winner of the Eliminator on Sunday, June 1, in Ahmedabad in Qualifier 2; the loser of the Eliminator will be knocked out.
The winner of Qualifier 2 will tussle with the winner of Qualifier 1 in the final on Tuesday, June 3, in Ahmedabad.
