‘No Girls or Music in IPL’: Sunil Gavaskar Calls For the Respect for War Victims
Gavaskar mentioned the loss of families who lost their dear ones in the conflict and asked not to include any music in the IPL
“I would sincerely hope, because of what has happened and some families have lost their near and dear ones, there is no music. Let’s not have the DJs screaming in the middle of an over.”
According to Gavaskar, the ‘dancing girls’ should be omitted from the matches as well.
“Let the games be played. Let the crowds come in. But just cricket no dancing girls, nothing. That would be a really nice way to respect the sentiment of the families.”
Speaking about the one-week suspension of IPL, Gavaskar said:
“With hostilities, there was no place for sport. But now that there is a ceasefire, the tournament can resume.”
There was a cross-border conflict between India and Pakistan, which was escalated after the Terrorist attack in Pahalgam. Many lost their lives, and it led to a war-like situation between the two neighbours. All sports activities in the country have been temporarily suspended, including IPL 2025.
As the countries agreed to a ceasefire, the peace has been re-established. Following that, BCCI announced the updated schedule of IPL 2025, which will resume on May 17.
