Virat Kohli And Anushka Sharma Back Indian Army: Indian cricket team player Virat Kohli and his wife Anushka Sharma have taken to social media in support of the Indian armed forces amid the ongoing conflict with Pakistan. The two have shared their thoughts and prayers with the army.
The world has turned its eyes toward he ongoing India-Pakistan conflict, which can turn into the first war between two established nuclear powers. On April 22, terrorists attacked and gunned down several tourists in Pahalgam, Jammu & Kashmir. In response, in the early hours of May 7, India launched a surgical strike on nine terrorist camps in Pakistani territory.
From that point on, the tensions are at an all-time high between the two nations. While India dismantled Pakistan’s air defence mechanism, Pakistan launched several missiles and drones on multiple Indian cities, which were intercepted by our defence systems.
These war-like conditions have impacted all walks of life in both countries. One of these avenues is the field of sports. The biggest annual cricket extravaganza of the year, the Indian Premier League, was headed into its business end when ‘Operation Sindoor’ on May 7 and subsequent retaliation took place.
Match 58 of IPL 2025 between the Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals was played in Dharamshala on May 8, when nearby cities of Pathankot and Jammu came under attack. The match was, naturally, abandoned midway. And now, a day later, the league has been suspended indefinitely.
With cricket becoming a big part of the whole situation, several cricketers have chimed in on the recent events. Yesterday, Indian ODI captain Rohit Sharma came out in support of the Indian army. Today, Virat Kohli and his wife, Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma, took to social media in support of the Indian armed forces.

Kohli posted a note on his Instagram story, which went out to his over 270M followers, in which the former ICT captain wrote,
“We stand in solidarity with, and salute our armed forces for fiercely protecting our country in these difficult times. We are forever indebted to our heroes for their unwavering gratitude for the sacrifices they and their families make for our great nation JAI HIND.”
Meanwhile, Anushka posted a similar note as a post on Instagram. It read,
Eternally grateful to our Indian Armed Forces for protecting us through these times like the heroes that they are. Heartfelt gratitude to the sacrifices they and their families have made, Jai Hind.
Kohli even commented under his wife’s post, writing “Jai Hind.”
Virat Kohli and the Royal Challengers Bengaluru were second on the points table in IPL 2025 and were all but confirmed a place in the playoffs. It now remains to be seen whether the team will be able to continue its momentum whenever the league restarts.
