India and Pakistan will play the Asian Games 2026 men’s cricket final on Saturday. The match will be held at Korogi Sports Park in Nisshin. India are the defending champions. The gold medal match starts at 10:00 AM IST.
Much of the attention will be on Vaibhav Sooryavanshi. The 15-year-old scored 38 runs off 21 balls in the semi-final against Sri Lanka. He hit six fours and two sixes. That meant 36 of his 38 runs came from boundaries. India won that match by 124 runs to reach the final.
Sooryavanshi was recently named in Time magazine’s Time100 Next 2026 list. He is the youngest person on the list and one of only seven athletes chosen. Time described him as one of the most exciting young figures in global sport.
He became the youngest Indian to play international cricket at 15 years and 99 days. That broke Sachin Tendulkar’s long-standing record. In his second T20I series, in Zimbabwe, he was the top scorer. He made two fifties, including a 50 off 19 balls. That was the fastest men’s fifty in international cricket. He also scored an unbeaten 81 off 49 in Harare.
Shreyas Iyer is leading India. The team is chasing a second straight Asian Games gold. Ravi Bishnoi will also be important. The spinner has 71 wickets in 53 T20Is. The pitch in Nisshin should help the spinners.
Pakistan are captained by Sahibzada Farhan. They beat Bangladesh by six wickets in the semi-final. Their quarter-final against Hong Kong China was washed out.
