NXT Highlights: WWE NXT was live from the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida. The show started the build toward the newly announced NXT Great American Bash event.

The advertised main event saw Tony D’Angelo defend the NXT Men’s Championship against Kam Hendrix. Naraku also remained involved in the story, promising to keep Tony as champion until he got his own opportunity.

The show also featured Romeo Moreno challenging Lexis King for the Speed Championship. Tate Wilder faced Jackson Drake in singles action, while Lizzy Rain took on Zaria.

WWE NXT Highlights

Lizzy Rain vs Zaria

Lizzy Rain showed plenty of fight against Zaria, using quick strikes, chops, and aerial offense to keep the match competitive. She scored several near falls with moves like a tornado DDT and an Ace Crusher, but Zaria’s power proved too much to overcome.

Zaria controlled long stretches of the match with heavy strikes, a release slam, German suplex, and multiple spears. Rain continued to battle back, but Zaria stopped her momentum and finished the match with an F-5 for the victory.

After the match, Zaria looked ready to continue the attack until Tatum Paxley ran to the ring. Paxley confronted her and announced that Zaria would get a title match next week.

OTM (Bronco Nima & Lucien Price) vs the Culling (Niko Vance & Shawn Spears)

OTM and The Culling had a physical tag team battle with both sides getting chances to control the match. Bronco Nima and Lucien Price started strong, using quick tags and double-team offense to wear down Shawn Spears.

The Culling fought back when Niko Vance took control. They targeted Price and kept him isolated. After the break, OTM regained momentum with big power moves. They used a DDT and leg drop combination and a military press from Price.

Spears and Vance nearly stole the win with their tandem offense, but OTM stayed alive. In the closing moments, Nima tagged in and teamed with Price to hit a double back suplex on Spears for the victory.

Jackson Drake vs Tate Wilder

Jackson Drake and Tate Wilder started with a technical exchange before Wilder gained the advantage with a Sling Blade that sent Drake to the floor. Wilder stayed aggressive and even dove onto all three members of the Vanity Project at ringside.

After the break, both men traded big moves and near falls. Drake landed a suicide spear, while Wilder answered with a TKO and a powerbomb. The match changed when Swipe Right and Myka Lockwood got involve, distracting Wilder and giving Drake an opening.

Lockwood slammed Wilder into the ring post and apron. Drake then climbed to the top rope and hit a 450 splash to secure the pinfall victory.

Lola Vice Set Up No. 1 Contender Match

Lola Vice came to the ring and celebrated her recent success, pointing to her NXT Women’s Championship victory and her strong showing at AAA. She said she earned everything through hard work and promised that any challenger would leave disappointed.

Kelani Jordan interrupted and argued that she deserved the next title opportunity. She compared her journey to Lola’s and complained that her accomplishments never received the same recognition. Kendal Grey and Wren Sinclair then joined the discussion, with Grey claiming she had already earned a shot at the championship.

Tired of the arguing, Lola made a match between Kelani Jordan and Kendal Grey to decide the number one contender for the Great American Bash. The segment ended with Jordan accidentally causing Lola to hit Grey with a backfist.

Lexis King (c) vs Romeo Moreno (WWE Speed Men’s Championship)

Lexis King retained the WWE Speed Men’s Championship after defeating Romeo Moreno in a fast-paced title match. King started with mind games by faking a handshake before attacking Moreno. He slowed the pace with targeted attacks and nearly forced a submission with a half-crab.

As time ran down, Moreno came close with a small package and a springboard moonsault, but he could not put the champion away. King capitalized on a missed moonsault and connected with Coronation for the three-count.

With the victory, Lexis King successfully retained the WWE Speed Men’s Championship.

DarkState (Dion Lennox & Osiris Griffin) vs. Myles Borne & Tavion Heights)

Borne and Heights started strong and controlled the early action. They even sent Osiris Griffin to the floor with a German suplex before the commercial break. Borne eventually escaped and tagged in Heights, who exploded with offense and nearly turned the match around by himself.

However, DarkState regained control when Dion Lennox trapped Heights. It allowed Griffin to land a headbutt and drive him into the ring post. With Heights stunned, Lennox and Griffin finished him off with their Doomsday Device combination to secure the victory.

Kam Hendrix vs. Tony D’Angelo (c) (NXT Men’s Championship)

The main event saw NXT Champion Tony D’Angelo successfully retain his title against Kam Hendrix. Hendrix nearly scored a quick upset with several nearfalls. But D’Angelo weathered the early storm and slowly took control. The challenger continued to push the champion to the limit, even attempting to bend the rules, but Tony refused to stay down. After a hard-fought back-and-forth battle, D’Angelo put Hendrix away with a chokeslam to keep hold of the NXT Championship.

After the match, Naraku handed the title belt to D’Angelo and bowed before him, while Mason Rook watched from ringside. Commentary then confirmed that Naraku and Rook will face each other next week in a No. 1 Contender’s Match to determine who challenges Tony D’Angelo for the NXT Championship.
