KKR all-rounder earns call-up as BCCI update India A squad for the tri-series in Sri Lanka

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Thursday announced a significant update to the India A squad for the upcoming tri-series in Sri Lanka, scheduled to be held from June 9 to June 21 in Dambulla. The tournament, featuring India A, Sri Lanka A and Afghanistan A, is expected to serve as an important platform for several emerging players aiming to strengthen their case for future senior national selection. The revised squad continues to reflect the selectors’ focus on rewarding strong performances in domestic cricket and the IPL while building a solid talent pipeline for Indian cricket’s future.

KKR star replaces Harsh Dubey in India A squad

In the latest update issued by the BCCI, Kolkata Knight Riders all-rounder Anukul Roy has been added to the India A squad for the tri-series in Sri Lanka. The left-arm spinning all-rounder comes in as a replacement for Harsh Dubey, who has earned his maiden call-up to India’s senior Test and ODI squads for the upcoming home series against Afghanistan.

Roy’s inclusion is seen as a reward for his consistent performances in domestic cricket and franchise tournaments. Known for his disciplined left-arm spin and handy lower-order batting, the all-rounder is expected to add depth and balance to the India A setup in spin-friendly Sri Lankan conditions.

Meanwhile, Dubey’s promotion to the senior national side marks a major breakthrough in his young career. The spinner has impressed selectors with his steady rise through the domestic ranks and will now have an opportunity to make his mark at the highest level.

Tilak Varma to lead exciting young squad

The India A side will be captained by stylish left-handed batter Tilak Varma, while Rajasthan Royals skipper Riyan Parag has been named vice-captain for the tournament. One of the biggest talking points of the squad is the inclusion of teenage batting sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi. The 15-year-old has enjoyed a sensational IPL 2026 campaign, scoring over 500 runs and catching the attention of fans and experts with his fearless batting and composure under pressure.

The squad also features several promising names from the domestic and IPL circuit, including Priyansh Arya, Ayush Badoni, Nishant Sindhu and Vipraj Nigam. The selection underlines India’s continued focus on grooming young talent through the India A structure.
