BGT 2027 Schedule: On Thursday, March 26, the BCCI unveiled a bumper schedule for the 22-game home season 2026-27, which comprises tours by four teams to India, including a five-match Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia.
Pat Cummins’ team is the current holder of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, having beaten India 3-1 in the 2024/25 BGT series in Australia.
The Indian men’s cricket team’s home season will get underway in the last week of September with an ODI series against the West Indies and will conclude with the fifth Test against Australia in the last week of February.
The BGT 2027 will be part of the ongoing ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2025-27 and will be the last Test series for India in this cycle.
The BGT 2027 is part of a potentially legacy-defining year for Cummins’ unit. It will be followed by a one-off home Test against England in March to mark the 150th anniversary of Test cricket, and later Australia will fly to England for The Ashes 2027.
Coming back to the topic at hand, India’s 2026–27 home season will begin with a tour by the West Indies comprising three ODIs and five T20Is in September-October.
India will then host Sri Lanka for three ODIs and as many T20Is in December, after which Zimbabwe will make their first bilateral tour of India since 2002, a short three-ODI rubber.
And then the marquee series of India’s 2026-27 home season: BGT 2027.
IND vs AUS: When is BGT 2027?
The India vs Australia Test series 2027 for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy will commence on 21 January in Nagpur, followed by Test matches in Chennai, Guwahati, and Ranchi, and it will conclude in Ahmedabad at the gigantic Narendra Modi Stadium.
Overall, 22 matches will be played across 17 cities.
